SOMI for Haiti, a Red Sunset Merchant Association (RSMA) community relief effort, is asking South Miami residents and businesses  to join them this Saturday to raise money for Project Medishare.

SOMI for Haiti hopes to have the community come together to collect donations of food, water, medical supplies, and money for Haiti relief efforts.

The event will take place on Saturday, March 13th, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. in downtown South Miami. The locations for the special event are at the front entrance to The Shops at Sunset Place and at the front Courtyard area of the First National Bank of South Miami.

Live bands and other entertainment will appear on a stage and there will be convenient drop off areas set up at both locations where volunteers will be accepting all donations.

Among the bands already lined up for the event are Dear Dad, Yours Trully; Minimal; Mr. Bongo Man; Soma; and Elastic Bond.

In addition, the participating merchants will have the opportunity to become part of the  “Save Haiti Saturday” drive by contributing 2 percent of the March 13 gross sales to the participating charities with all proceeds going to Haiti earthquake victim relief to be distributed through the RSMA.
