Project Medishare relies on volunteers to provide medical care to Haitians, and assist in the training and education of Haitian doctors, nurses and other medical staff. Since the January 12, 2010 earthquake, more than 9,000 medical professionals have volunteered with us in Haiti. We are currently seeking medical professionals to volunteer with us at Hospital Bernard Mevs in Port-au-Prince, and our rural public health programs in the Central Plateau.
The first step to volunteering with us at Hospital Bernard Mevs, is to register and indicate the dates you are available to travel. A minimum one-week commitment is requested, but we encourage you to stay longer if possible. Currently, space is only available for allied healthcare professionals, including but not limited to physicians, nurses, rehabilitation, radiology techs, biomedical engineers, etc. We are unable to accept medical students due to space limitations. Due to the presence of the Zika virus in Haiti, volunteers who are pregnant are not eligible for deployment as a safety precaution.
Medical teams depart to Haiti from the Miami International Airport (MIA). Volunteers are responsible for making their own travel arrangements to Miami. Flights leave from Miami every Tuesday and return the following Tuesday. Housing, meals and transportation in Haiti will be provided.
Volunteers are asked to raise at least $800 USD donation to support the administration of the volunteer program, and the cost of the round trip Miami to Port-au-Prince plane ticket. If you choose to buy your ticket and fly directly to Port-au-Prince, the minimum donation is $300. You can raise the volunteer fee by fundraising through your friends, family and coworkers (recommended) or you may donate the full amount yourself.

Housing, meals and transportation in Haiti will be provided.
Volunteers are asked to pay a fee to cover the expenses related to the administration of the volunteer program. On average, the fee to volunteer with us in the Central Plateau is US$700-$1,000 for one week, not including the cost of air travel. You can raise the volunteer fee by fundraising through your friends, family and coworkers (recommended) or you may donate the full amount yourself. Volunteer fees must be paid before arriving in Haiti.
