Project Medishare Becomes GlobalGiving Partner

  |   Fundraisers, News
Project Medishare has graduated from the GlobalGiving Accelerator program, gaining entry into the GlobalGiving marketplace and becoming a recognized partner of GlobalGiving. As part of the Accelerator, we raised $8,448 from 49 unique individual donors to support our efforts to reduce maternal and infant deaths in rural Haiti.

“We’re thrilled to have Project Medishare as part of our community. Project Medishare has met our rigorous vetting standards for trust and community support, and we’re committed to providing tools, training, and support as they learn, grow and become more effective,” said Mari Kuraishi, President and Co-Founder of GlobalGiving. “GlobalGiving donors value the opportunity to support nonprofits like Project Medishare, knowing that they’ll get regular updates about how their donations are put to work.”

The funds raised via GlobalGiving will be used to encourage pregnant women to seek continued prenatal care at one of Project Medishare’s two maternity centers. As an incentive, we will distribute newborn welcome kits to 75 moms. The kits will include a baby box to provide a safe space for infants to sleep, along with essential health and hygiene items to help keep mom and baby healthy.

“We’re so excited to be one of the newest members of the GlobalGiving community,” said Project Medishare  Development Manager Christa Michaud. “Haiti has one of the highest maternal and infant death rates in the world. This project will ensure women receive the care they need before, during and after pregnancy. We’re so grateful to our donors for supporting our GlobalGiving project, and helping us make pregnancy and delivery safer for moms and babies in Haiti.”

About Project Medishare for Haiti, Inc.
Project Medishare has been providing healthcare in Haiti for nearly 25 years. We are the main provider of rural health services to about 80,000 people in Haiti’s Central Plateau. We operate two health clinics and maternity centers, and extend healthcare access through community-based activities such as mobile clinics and home visits. Through our partnership with Hospital Bernard Mevs in Port-au-Prince, we help provide critical care to thousands of critically ill and injured patients, and training to medical staff. Programs are community-based and locally-led.
